Rant with a bonus

This is yet another post regarding stolen intellectual property.   Special thanks to copycat Marcey Hawk for demonstrating the quickest way to lose all credibility.

Below are screenshots from 2 of Marcey’s “unique” and “fun” (non-eBay) listings.  Oh, and they’re “honest” too…no plagiarism going on here!  (Hope everyone replaced the batteries in their sarcasm meters.)  Enlarge the photos to see the extent of the problem.

I spruced this one up a little…

Let’s go over this one more time. Nolo.com defines plagiarism as:  ”Passing off someone else’s work as your own, whether word for word or merely the creative ideas. This can amount to copyright infringement if permission has not been obtained from the copyright owner for use of the expressive elements of the work. Even if permission is granted, putting your name on someone else’s work is still plagiarism and is unethical within artistic, scientific, academic and political communities.”

Read it again Marcey.

BTW, did you see how I gave credit to Nolo.com there?  Oooh, I just did it again!  Nolo.com!  If I copied and pasted the definition without giving credit to the source, then Nolo.com might get really upset and leave a string of unflattering but mostly true tags about me for the search engines to pick up.  We wouldn’t want that.

I hate repeating myself in regards to this ridiculously too common issue but some of you still think it’s perfectly fine to take credit for someone else’s work.  Wrong.  It’s disrespectful to the original ‘original artist,’ and it’s unfair to collectors who might be looking for an investment from someone who doesn’t deceive them from the get-go.

The sites where Marcey Hawk pretends to be an artist request that I sign up for their service just to report her listings.  No thanks.

Just for delicious irony, the author of my favorite Marcey Hawk comment will win a real original ACEO from my “A Little Bit of Hope” breast painting series. Multiple entries encouraged!  Tell your friends!
