My dad is leaving for Hungary on Sunday, and I’ve been helping him move out of his apartment this week. He’s going to be gone for 2 months, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that he won’t decide to move there permanently. Fortunately for me, he has to give a lot of stuff to give away so I’ve upgraded my old beat-up slipcovered couch and pleather loveseat into a barely used, matching set! YAY!
Here’s a sneak peek at “Vegetation #2″ (far left) and “Garden of Hope #10″ (far right)

And here’s one of my paintings that isn’t for sale…maybe in the future though:
Tonight, the auction for “New Hope #52″ begins:

Also, I’ve placed “Garden of Hope #8″ in my eBay store:

And here’s what Koopa’s up to today:
Just snoozin’ under his heat pad.

I'm an Internet-based (anxiety-ridden) abstract artist residing in Connecticut. I'm best known for my breast paintings, which I've been offering sporadically since 2001. You may also be familiar with my work with Koopa, the world's 1st professional painting turtle (now enjoying early retirement.) I'm currently spending lots of time creating photographs, beaded jewelry and poetry too! Robin – I hope you’re right about my dad, but even he doesn’t know what he wants to do. The cost of living is so much cheaper in Hungary, plus he has a brother there. Will keep you updated of course.
Double beak smash and hugs back atcha!

Hi Kira
Laura here in smoldering California. I know what you go through as a struggling artist because one of best friends is an artist that sculpts tiny faries and children and sells on Ebay. She used to bring in a generous income and was able to stay at home and like you just hates the idea of having to return to a job. Lately it has come to a screeching halt for her and they have really been struggling to make ends meet. She is still sculpting but takes it right to heart when her work does not sell. She also pours her soul into her art.
There are many catastrophies in our country right now. I just was able to return to my home in Paradise, ca. I was mandated to evacuate for 4 days and 3 nights. Our town had 10,000 people evacuted. I was absorbed with looking at info about the fire wondering; did I lose my home? A very scary frightning thing to go through. I am happily home now and love it. Our community here is safe. I think of all the people in the mid west effected by tornados and floods and whatever else. anyway What I am tring to say to you what I say to my dear friend Carol. Please do not take it personal. There is so much change happening in our world that inpacts the economy. People are just not able to spend like they used to.
Your work is incredible. I really really wish I was able to bid now. But right I am not able. My latest ebay purchase was an air filter to help with the terrible smoke here. How do I subscribe to your blog? I do look regularly and will write more comments!
Your place is really cute and fun! Koopa is adorable.
Your Friend,
Laura

Hi Laura – I know I’m not alone in this economy, and I realize that art is one of those things that’s simply not a necessity to people. I wish more people would buy from places like eBay instead of huge corporations that aren’t taking such a huge hit from this country’s financial mess. On the upside, I’m glad that I don’t have to spend as much on gas as those with jobs away from home, and I’m also blessed to have a post office that’s nearby. My truck is 8 years old old & only has 53,000 miles on it.
I’m so glad that everything turned out OK for you. That must have been downright frightening to be evacuated and not know if your home was still there. I would have been an absolute wreck, as I don’t handle stress well. I’m very happy for you, and I know that you probably appreciate what you have more than ever.
Thank you so much for visiting and commenting. To subscribe, you need a feed reader, which may or may not be an option on the home page of your internet provider or whatever service you use. I use Mozilla, and basically I click on “add stuff” then click on “RSS” then type in the blog address to receive updates on my home page as soon as they’re available. I can help you figure it out if you let me know what service you use for your home page.
