“New Hope #28″ and mixed feelings

Here’s “New Hope #28,” to be listed tonight:

Koopa’s paintings are faring well on eBay…perhaps too well.  While it’s nice that I won’t have to stress over money for a couple of weeks, it somewhat bothers me that my paintings are selling for so little in comparison.  In my brain there’s an issue because everything about our paintings is so similar…the colors, the support, and the attention to composition.  I’m really pleased with the way they turn out, and it seems like the buyers have been thrilled with them also.  Is it that I don’t have a shell?  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Emily - I know. I’m just worried because that’s one of my greatest talents. It just comes so naturally!

I have been reading your blog weekly and so happy that Koopa is eating and appears to be doing better. I’m sad I will never be able to get one of his paintings, but hope you will keep a few of them up on your website for us to enjoy for years to come.

Your personal paintings are beautfully colored and composed and I wish you success. You have spent many years promoting Koopa-now you must do it for your own works of art. Good luck and I’ll be talking to you again!

    Hi Kira

I feel Koopa’s paintings go for so much is because of the uniqueness. (The retirement is definitely helping things also). A painting by a turtle? How odd and cool and interesting! I will own one of YOUR paintings as well….I’m confident of that. I’m just waiting for the perfect one! A painting using breasts? How odd and cool and interesting! And I think you’re adorable too :) Suggestions? Keep on keepin’ on! You’ve got a lot of support out here!

Tess - I don’t know if he’s actually doing better, but I’m pleased about the eating. Currently, we are both awake at 5:30 a.m…he’s just waking up, and I’m just about to go to bed. He’s drinking a lot of water, and afterwards he’ll probably go back in his box to sleep. So, he’s still not acting “normal,” but he is eating and drinking.

Beth - It’s just so weird to suddenly not be working closely with Koopa like I have for the last 5 years. It’s such a huge change. I’m so glad you guys are actually visiting and posting here. It means so much to me…helps me ease my doubts a bit. :-)

I have an idea to promote your breast paintings. Maybe if the bid goes past a certain amount, you could donate a certain percentage of profit to breast cancer research. Just an idea, needs fine tuning……. Keep up your beautiful work. ~hugs~ to you and Koopa!

Pleasance - The 1st 15 or so paintings included a 20% donation to Susan G. Komen. It was going fine until I opened a MissionFish account to make the transfer of funds easier. Their representative felt that the paintings were inappropriate for fundraising, so they refused to accept me as a donor. It was a courteous rejection, but that’s why I don’t do it anymore.
